Between dirty diapers, bottle feedings and of course cuddle time, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to get myself ready anymore. Even if the baby is asleep, there are so many other things that need to happen during that precious little break from “mommying”. So on days where my nap time “To-Do” list is ridiculously long, or that nap didn’t last as long as I had hoped, I do a quick little makeup application that I call my “Mommy Makeup”.
What I have found to be key here, aside from having my makeup organized, is to limit the number of products used and only open each product once. Make the products in your makeup bag work double duty on those days you’re working overtime.
Note: Even though it is not listed in the steps below, I highly recommend applying a light sunscreen daily to protect the skin from harmful sun rays. Also, if you have a few extra seconds to spare applying a makeup primer prior to foundation will help to prevent a “cakey” appearance through out the day. I like to use MAYBELLINE MASTER PRIME 300 to help with any red blotches on my skin.
WHAT I USED:
- Foundation: MAYBELLINE FIT ME! MATTE+PORELESS (normal to oily 120)
- Powder: MAYBELLINE FIT ME! (set + smooth 120)
- Eyeliner: URBAN DECAY 24/7 GLIDE ON EYE PENCIL (corrupt)
- Contour: MAYBELLINE MASTER CONTOUR 015
- Highlighter: MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND (bightener)
- Eye Shadow: TOO FACED NATURAL EYES
- Bronzer: COVERGIRL BRONZER
- Mascara: TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX
- Chapstick: BURTS BEES VANILLA BEAN
Apply foundation (and concealer as needed) to your entire face including your eyelids. Putting foundation on your eyelids will help your eyeshadow to stick better. I highly suggest getting a Beauty Blender sponge to apply your foundation. A sponge is ideal for a flawless natural foundation application.
After you finish blending your concealer apply your eyeliner. And the great thing about doing this now is it doesn’t have to be perfect so do not spend a ton of time making sure the lines are right. We are going to smudge this in really well later to get a more natural look.
Apply contour right under your cheekbones, the sides and top of your forehead, and down the sides of your nose. Use an angled brush to blend in to foundation.
Grab your highlighter and blot it right at the tops of your cheekbone, the top of your brow bone, the very tip of your lip, and down the middle of your nose.
Use a smaller eyeshadow brush, select a natural eye shadow color and brush all over the eye lid in a sweeping motion. Smudge your eye liner and blend in to your eye shadow.
Take a blush brush and sweep a bit of bronzer under your cheek bones and up in to your hairline. Then apply a little on the top of your forehead. Just remember, when it comes to bronzer, a little goes a long way!
Define your brows with the same shade of eyeshadow you used on your eyes.
Finish everything off with an all over light coat of compact powder, a coat of mascara and chapstick! I always opt for chapstick over lipgloss so my son doesn’t get sticky from all of my kisses.
What is your go to mommy look?
