Work out with a Purpose

Summer is right around the corner, and you maybe wondering if you can still fit in to last years swimsuit or shorts. For those of us who struggle with losing the post baby weight, walking is a great way to start your journey to a leaner and healthier you. Not only does this little bit of exercise help to reduce your stress, it also helps you to feel more energized throughout the day. I make it a personal goal to get to the gym 3 days a week. But when I can’t I do an at home exercise for a minimum of 30 minuets every day. Here are some great apps to tap into to while you’re movin!

Charity Miles

(Andriod and iOS, free)

If you find motivation in helping others, this is a great app for you. Charity Miles lets you earn money for you favorite nonprofit. Choose from among 40 different charities, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I just started walking for the USO!


(Andriod and iOS, free)

Do you need a sole-mate? Or a group of friends who are working towards the same goals? You can cheer each other on with likes and comments when work outs are recorded with friends who use this app. MapMyWalk also offers voice feedback about your pace, distance and more.


(Android and iOS, $2)

Feel secure when you go on a stroll alone any time of the day or night. This app allows you to pick a safety contact before heading out. You can note where you are going and what time you expect to be back at your starting point. This app with even notify your contact if your battery dies or you lose cell service.
